The 30th Annual National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Banquet is a Rousing Success!

Knoxville, IA, June 19, 2019 – Over 270 guests attended this year’s 30th Annual National Sprint Car Hall of Fame Induction Banquet Saturday, June 1, at the Dyer-Hudson Hall on the Marion County Fairgrounds.  Thousands more were able to watch via LIVE Facebook online as well.

Champion drivers Richard Griffin and Stevie Smith, owner/manufacturer CK Spurlock, media member Greg Stephens, and National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum founder, Thomas J. Schmeh took center stage as they were officially inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Iowa.  In addition, the families of deceased inductees including driver Jason Johnson (wife Bobbi, son Jaxx, mother Debra and father Craig), owner M.A. Brown (son Mike and grandsons Matt and Marty), and driver “Wild” Bill Endicott (grandson Dave Owens and great-grandson John Owens).  Emcees Dr. Patrick Sullivan and Dave Hare entertained during the three-hour ceremony.

National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductees who were present were Steve Beitler, Shane Carson, Doug Clark, Gene Crucean, Ray Lee Goodwin, Jean Lynch, Bob Mays, Lynn Paxton, Steve Stapp, Pat Sullivan and Bill Utz.

National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductees also had family members in attendance in the Dyer-Hudson Hall on the Marion County Fairgrounds including: Bud Carson (son Shane Carson), John Gerber (son Jim Gerber), Kenny Jacobs (daughter Kendra Jacobs), Steve Smith (son Stevie Smith), Elbert “Babe” Stapp (son Steve Stapp), Bob Trostle (wife Dorotha Trostle and daughter Judy), Linda Weld (niece of Kenny and Greg Weld, and granddaughter of Taylor “Pappy” Weld) and Chet Wilson (daughter Donna Wilson).  

National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Executive Director, Bob Baker, awarded the 2019 President’s Award posthumously to long-time museum supporter Tom Toutz from Camarillo, California.

This year’s induction banquet again featured dual large-screen televisions showing photos organized by videographer Kris Krohn.

After the induction proceedings, many witnessed the unveiling of the inductees’ plaques on the second floor of the museum.
  
Next year's thirty-first NSCHoF induction weekend is tentatively scheduled for May 29 and 30, 2020.
